STAR’S ON THE RISE

- By gaRRy owen

STAR MIND (5.30) is the smart choice in the BetMGM Handicap on the Newcastle all-weather.

Jack Jones’ filly relished returning to seven furlongs when cosily dismissing Alreet Cha here.

That looked a strong contest so the three-year-old can shrug off a reasonable 4lb penalty.

SEA ICE (5.0) can kick off a profitable evening for Team Gosden in the maiden.

The filly continued her steady rise with a good second to the exciting Kaleidoscope at Lingfield. The three-year-old was staying on strongly so she can open her account upped two furlongs.

The top duo can double up with COVER UP (6.0) in the trappy BetUK Handicap. The sprinter improved again when comfortably defeating Burning Cash over track and trip.

The gelding looks nicely unexposed on the all-weather so he can defy a 5lb rise moved up in class.

ASADJUMEIRAH (6.30) can claim division one of the sprint handicap for Anthony Brittain. The gelding bounced back with a fine second to the well-treated

Burning Cash at Southwell.

The six-year-old still lurks on an attractive mark so he can claim this slightly weaker handicap.

FLASH THE DASH (7.0) is looking to shine bright for skilled Julie Camacho in the second division. The speedster kept his revival going by outbattling May Remain over course and distance.

The five-year-old remains fairly-treated so he can make light of a well-deserved 3lb hike.

IRISH FLAME (7.30) can burn bright for Michael Dods in the Safe Gambling Handicap.

The gelding returned with a close third to Trais Fluors in better company at this venue.

The five-year-old should be primed so he can take full advantage of this drop in class.

Stella Barclay is hitting form so I’m on EVA ROSIE (8.0) in the classified contest. The filly was an eye-catching third behind Twistaline on her comeback at Southwell.

That was a clear personal best so the four-year-old can cash-in on an inviting mark.

Michael Appleby’s still thriving so I’m going for MEHMO (8.30) in the lucky last.

The six-year-old was just denied by Henery Hawk at this track. That is excellent form so the gelding can go one better in another reasonable event.
