We’ll make rivals pay for Hoops hammering

- BY SCOTT BURNS

LYALL CAMERON knows Dundee can’t let their Celtic caning derail their top-six push.

The Dark Blues will be looking for a reaction to their 7-1 Parkhead pummelling against Kilmarnock this afternoon as they look to consolidate their place in the top half of the Premiership.

Midfielder Cameron said: “We can’t let what happened on Wednesday define our season because we’re going for a top-six place.

“We’re still in a good place, although we know it’s going to be tough because there are a lot of good teams going for top six.

“We have a lot of important games now, so we have to pick up as many points as we can.”

Cameron believes Dundee will be fired up to end their three-game winless run against Killie this season by the humiliation of their midweek mauling.

He admitted: “It’s your job at the end of the day and we’ve been embarrassed in front of a lot of people, so it’s not nice.

“Having a game so quickly helps us move on and all you can do is try your best to recover from it and go again.

have been a bit weird so far, there has been a lot of drama, with late goals and stuff.

“Hopefully we are due to beat them this time.

“We will have to battle away and earn the right to play. Hopefully if we can do that we’ll give ourselves the platform to win the points.”

Dens boss Tony Docherty believes Wednesday can be written off as they caught Brendan Rodgers’ champions at their best.

He said: “There has to be an element of ownership. They are such an honest group and wouldn’t shirk from anything. It’s also my responsibility. There is an accountability there.

“Also speaking to Brendan after the game, we caught Celtic on their best night and I quote him ‘it was their best performance in his second spell at the club’.

“But that is history. There is nothing we can do about that.

“As a newly-promoted team, it is important we address all the challenges to the season and what will define us is our reaction to that.”
