Jord knows we can’t go through it

- BY SCOTT BURNS

JORDAN WHITE has insisted last season’s nerveshredding end will be a major driver in keeping Ross County out of the relegation play-off slot.

It took a late comeback in the play-off final against Partick Thistle to keep the Staggies in the top flight.

White is one of the survivors from that nailbiter and is desperate to do all he can to get County out of the bottom two.

The striker admitted: “We should be doing better than we have been because we don’t want to be in the same position as last season – or even worse.

“We want to keep things in our own hands, stick together and stay in this league. The memory of the play-offs last year should drive us on.

“The feeling of getting through it at the time was great, but it’s not something you want to put yourself through.

“It was just relief afterwards, you were happy and it was great – but the biggest feeling was relief. “The manager (Don Cowie) has touched on it, there are good teams in the Championship so it won’t be easy. “It’s a lose-lose for the Premiership team because everyone expects you to win and you have everything to lose.

“It’s not something we want to be in, we want to get out of it and move up the table. We’ve had a couple of good results but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves because there’s a lot of hard work to come.”

County sit second bottom and are four points behind St Johnstone with a game-in-hand. They have taken four points from the last six and will want more as they head to Easter Road today.

White believes interim boss Don Cowie has brought a unity back after Derek Adams’ turbulent recent spell.

White claimed: “We have got that togetherness back, I think you can see that on the pitch. We need to stick together and everyone from the top of the club to the bottom, everyone is pulling together.

“Things happened and we’ve moved on from it. I’m not going to slate anyone, you need to get through the bad times.

“I think definitely, everyone is pulling in the right direction and we’re all together.”
