Darvel Moore merrier

- Scott McHarg

Craig Moore bagged the only goal after coming off the bench then insisted Darvel winning is all that matters as they pursue Premier Division glory.

The ayrshire side are now seven points behind leaders Clydebank with five games in hand.

Moore said: “it’s a massive three points against a top side. We’ll just take it one game at a time and see where we end up.

“We also have a twolegged Scottish Cup semifinal against auchinleck, so there’s still a lot to play for.

“From a personal point of view, i’ve not been getting much game time with the team doing so well.

“So to contribute and grab the all-important goal is brilliant.

“Hopefully i’ve given the gaffer food for thought and i can push for a starting slot in the coming weeks.”

after an uneventful first half, the game burst into life with 15 minutes left when Darvel were awarded a penalty.

However, ross Caldwell saw his tame effort easily saved by Kieran Hughes.

Shortly after, the winner arrived when ross Barbour’s inch-perfect free-kick was superbly headed home by Moore.

Darvel gaffer Tony Mcinally said: “overall we just edged it. The first-half performance is nowhere near good enough but the boys made amends with an excellent second 45.

“We have a number of massive games coming up and everyone at the club is relishing the challenge.”

Bankies boss gordon Moffat said: “it’s a sore one to take when a draw would have probably been a fair result.

“We’ve had a tough couple of weeks. We just need to stick together and get our campaign back up and running.”
