LONG LIVE THE KING

- BY GARRY OWEN

KING OF SPEED (6.30) can show his rivals a clean pair of heels for Mark Loughnane at Southwell.

The five-year-old relished stepping up to a mile when pipping Harbour Vision at Wolverhampton last month.

That race is working out well so the gelding can make light of a reasonable 2lb penalty.

ORCHARD PARK (5.0) looks set to bear fruit for Karl Burke in the opening novices’ contest. The filly was an eyecatching third behind Indicate

on debut over course and distance 10 days ago so ought to open her account for her thriving trainer.

ELEANOR CROSS (5.30) should finally get off the mark in the BetUK Novice Stakes.

Andrew Balding’s filly ran well when edged by Avon Light

in a Kempton handicap last month. That was a decent contest so the three-year-old stands to go one better back in this sphere.

BORGI (6.0) should show his mettle for Sean Woods in the Showtime Handicap.

The five-year-old bounced back with a second to Mclean House at Lingfield last month, which is excellent form going into a weaker contest.

EAGLE’S REALM (7.0) ought to swoop for handlers Graeme McPherson and David Killanena in the Acca Handicap.

The gelding despatched

Zephlyn over track and trip a month ago so ought to land a warm event.

BRINGBACKMEMORIES (7.30) gets the nod in the competitive BetUK Handicap.

Iain Jardine’s horse put in another solid shift when third to Andaleep in a similar race here in January. The gelding is unexposed on the all-weather so should hit back for his yard.

BILLY BATHGATE (8.0) looks set to continue Ewan Whillans’ superb run in the staying event. The gelding was not disgraced yet again when fifth behind Tortured Soul over 1m 3f here last month.

The eight-year-old is better over further so should capitalise on an attractive mark.

STOLEN ENCOUNTER (8.30) can plunder the last with Hollie Doyle in the saddle.

The four-year-old didn’t mind 1m 6f when second to

Liberated Lad at this venue last month and remains nicely unexposed over this trip.
