WHAT’S THE SCORE?

Our experts offer Ibrox predictions

-

ANDY NEWPORT

RANGERS are looking a little leggy and short on numbers but Ibrox has a knack of lifting the players to new heights on nights like this.

Benfica hardly sparkled at the Estadio da Luz and under the bright lights in Glasgow, the home side will look to leave the Portuguese outfit in the shade targeting a backline that looks distinctly beatable.

Rangers 2, Benfica 1

KEITH JACKSON

EUROPA LEAGUE Thursdays under the Ibrox lights have become a recent phenomenon. And this feels like one to add to the list. Yes, Benfica have quality all over the pitch and, true, even if they’ve been struggling for form they ought to have enough to get through this tie.

But Rangers shocked them in Lisbon last week without playing anywhere near their best. Roared on by a home crowd, they can storm into the last eight.

Rangers 2, Benfica 1

SCOTT BURNS

I suspect Rangers captain James Tavernier will come up with another big performance to help his team into the next round. It will be tight but home advantage should be enough to see them over the line.

Rangers 2, Benfica 1

MICHAEL GANNON

THERE have been several big Euro nights at Ibrox in recent years and this could be another one. Benfica are dangerous but Rangers can tap into the atmosphere and make use of the space. Fans should buckle up for another wild night.

Rangers 3, Benfica 2 (aet)

GAVIN BERRY

STRAP yourselves in. Finishing off the massive result in Lisbon is the hard bit but they have enough to get it done … eventually. 1–1 (aet; Rangers to win on pens)
