WE’LL PUNCH WELL ABOVE OUR WEIGHT
STUART KETTLEWELL reckons Motherwell have been punching above their weight in the Premiership.
And he knows they’ll need to be up for the fight when they take on Aberdeen tomorrow.
Dons interim boss Peter Leven has warned his players they face a survival scrap following their defeat to Dundee.
Aberdeen have not won in 11 in the Premiership and Well can open an eight-point advantage over them with a win at Fir Park.
Kettlewell said: “We all know what the food chain looks like in this division.
“I’ve said numerous times, everyone knows what we have financially is right at the lower end of this league.
“Do I think we maximise what we’ve got and have we utilised our squad? Yes, I really do.
“We’re punching above our weight if you put it down to monetary terms.
“I’ve always believed football comes down to more than money and a lot of clubs have proved that.
“Having a togetherness, a good rapport with your players and maximising
what you get out of individuals is so important.
“Aberdeen have a really good group of players, a very good squad that’s been heavily invested in.
“There’s been a bit of change there since the Kilmarnock game with Peter taking over in interim charge. I’m trying to get as much of a read on them now as I can.
“We can only control our level of performance. That’s our message to the players.
“I know people make an assumption on the run Aberdeen are on but I’m not a naive guy. I’ve seen them play very well this season.
“In one of Peter’s games in charge against Celtic they played well too. That’s the Aberdeen side I’m bracing myself to play.”
