Read game superbly in air and on deck. Ensured no way through the middle to goal until he was up for a corner at winner. Showed quality on the ball too to start attacks.

RIDVAN YILMAZ 7

Cross balls caused Benfica trouble in first half while he handled the threat of Di Maria for the large part. Emptied the tank.

JOHN LUNDSTRAM 7

Plenty of tidy interceptions, dropped deep to start attacks although sloppiness almost handed Rafa Silva first-half opener.

MOHAMED DIOMANDE 7

Now an automatic pick in engine room. Tidy on the ball, got up to support Dessers plenty and threw himself into tackles. Lost aerial challenge with Di Maria at goal.

TOM LAWRENCE 6

Lively start as he snapped into challenges and drove side forward. Fell off the pace as game wore on.

Surprise recall for wide man in first start since February 18. Blew hot and cold but set up Dessers for what should’ve been opener in 48.

Looked to get on ball on left and delivered a couple of dangerous balls from wide area early on but nowhere near impact of first leg.

Big chance deflected wide at 0-0. Too easily snuffed out by Otamendi. Poor touch led to opener.
