Kevin: Accies back to their ruthless best

-

HOTSHOT Kevin o’Hara admitted it was a relief to put on a show to appease the Hamilton fans as he helped sweep aside Stirling Albion 3-0.

The Accies performance in their single-goal win over Edinburgh City last week attracted criticism both from the stands and the dugout, with boss John Rankin labelling his side’s display as “disgusting”.

But second-placed Accies were on song from the first whistle to ease past the Binos, who’ve conceded eight goals and scored none on their two visits to Hamilton this season.

o’Hara – who notched his 13th league goal of the season – said: “We won last week but it was frustrating the way we played.

“So we watched that back at training through the week, looked at the video of what we could have done better and I feel we did that today.

“We’re a team that wants to play good, attacking football and in any league, you have to be ruthless in both boxes. We pride ourselves on that and want to play good stuff as well as getting the result.”

The striker’s 20th-minute opener was followed by Ahkeem Rose’s close-range header in 52 minutes.

Jake Hastie then notched his first in Accies colours in added time to add gloss to the scoreline.

The win makes it three in a row as they prepare for a likely promotion play-off berth, 11 points clear of third-placed Alloa.

o’Hara added: “We’re just trying to take every game as it comes and building up that momentum for the end of the season.

“I feel as if we’ve done that recently with the results we’ve been picking up and it’s something we’re

definitely looking to continue.”

Falkirk moved a step closer to the Championship after they came from a goal down to win 4-1 at Queen of the South.

After Josh Todd fired the opener with a cracker, Callum Morrison hit back before Liam Henderson put the Bairns ahead.

Morrison stretched their advantage from the spot, with Aidan Nesbitt adding a fourth at the death as John McGlynn’s side moved to within five points of the title.

Edinburgh City became the SPFL’s earliest ever relegated team following their 5-2 defeat to Alloa.

Mitch Megginson scored the only goal as Cove Rangers edged out Kelty Hearts 1-0 at New Central Park.

Montrose left it late to earn a 90th-minute equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Annan Athletic.
