O’Dea: Spirit driving us on

-

DARREN O’DEA says his young Celtic B players have a wonderful attitude and he wants to keep it going.

O’Dea was disappointed they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Albion Rovers but he praised them for keeping their unbeaten run that has stretched to 14 games.

And the Hoops boss said: “Although it was a difficult game there were a lot of positives.

“They played as we always want them to but they just struggled. It didn’t connect and it was probably due to the conditions.

“But they’re a resilient bunch and have a great attitude. They got back into the game and could have won it at the end but we didn’t. In the scheme of things, it was a fair result.

“The positives and admiration I have for them is great – they just persist and persist and it’s a good trait to have. The lads are in real good rhythm at the moment and we want to keep that going for the rest of the season and on into the next one.”

Rovers went ahead in the 32nd minute courtesy of a penalty from Niyah Joseph after Justin Osagie fouled Dom McMahon in the box.

Then in the 77th minute the Celtic pressure told and Ben Quinn finished brilliantly to equalise.

Liam Fox was full of praise for Hearts B as they maintained second spot with a 1-0 win over highflying Linlithgow Rose.

Seven minutes into the second half Callum Sandilands fastened on to a cross before volleying low into the net.

After their third win in eight days – and five in a row – Fox said: “Their attitude and application has been fantastic and I can’t praise them enough.”

Leaders East Kilbride crashed to a 2-0 defeat against Bo’ness, after a header from Scott Dalziel and a spot-kick from Ryan Porteous.
