CALM AND COLLECTED

Euan: A cool head can help Raith lift title

-

RAITH ace Euan Murray knows what it takes to come out on top in a tight title race.

And Murray insists keeping cool, calm and collected is key to triumphing in the Championship.

Raith would have gone top of the table with a win at Hampden but the 0-0 draw saw them move level on points with Dundee United, and remain behind on goal difference.

It is the second time this month Raith have passed up the chance to move into pole position in the race for the Championship crown following their defeat to Arbroath.

But Murray insists there is no need to panic as the defender will draw on his experience from two seasons ago when he was part of Killie’s titlewinning squad who edged out Arbroath in the second last game of the campaign to clinch the crown.

Murray said: “We just need to put Dundee United on the back burner and concentrate on ourselves.

“We knew coming into the game that if we won, we’d go top of the league but it’s seven points out of nine in a week. It’s about calm heads and not getting too high when you win games and not getting too low when you get days like this one when it doesn’t quite fall for you.

“So we’ll regroup and go again. It’s been a decent week, we’ve got back to being solid. There are positives to take and we’ll pick the bones out of where we can brush up on.”

Raith will have their feet up this weekend as their clash with Airdrie has been postponed due to the Diamonds’ involvement in the SPFL Trust Trophy Final.

Their next competitive outing is an eagerly anticipated showdown with United at Tannadice.

Raith are unbeaten against United this season and Murray added: “That’s going to be a big one and United are a really good side.

“But going back to when I won it at Kilmarnock, if you want to win a league you need to take care of business in big games.”
