A HEARTLESS care worker stole vital pain medication from a dying man and replaced it with tap water. Louise Allan laughed as she left court yesterday after pleading guilty to a charge of culpable and reckless conduct. The 50-year-old admitted consuming medicine belonging to 60-year-old David Gilmour on various occasions between october and December. The charge alleged that on occasions she replaced a quantity of David’s painkilling medication with tap water at an address in Livingston’s Craigshill district. Prosecutors claimed the diluted medication was then administered to David “to the danger of his life”. Allan, of Huron Avenue in Livingston, will be sentenced at a later date. A source close to the case told how she took advantage of her position of trust to steal the painkilling medication – thought to be morphine based – and administer the watered-down version. The by vic RODRICK source said: “This woman had a job as a carer to a terminally ill man. relatives of the man had noticed discrepancies with his morphine based medication.

“When this began happening, a hidden camera had been installed. Louise had been taking this liquid and topping it up with water.

“David had become more ill and his meds were no longer working.

“Louise had also stolen a full bottle of this medication. This woman has caused so much suffering to a man at the end of his life.

“This needs to be put out there to make clear that she has preyed on the elderly and vulnerable.

“They should know who she is and not have her in their homes as this is a major concern.”

Prosecutor Neil martin formally moved for sentence at Livingston Sheriff Court and revealed that Allan had no previous convictions.

Sheriff martin edington told her: “Given the nature of the charge, reports will be required before sentence.”

He deferred the case for a criminal justice social work report and an assessment of Allan’s suitability for a restriction of liberty order to be prepared.

Allan was told to return to court on April 11.

This needs to be put out there to show she has preyed on the vulnerable source issues warning on louise allan
