2 TEEN BOYS DIE IN ROAD CRASH
Car driver, 17, fights for life after HGV horror
Two teenage boys have died and another is fighting for his life following a crash between a car and a lorry.
Emergency services raced to the A91, between the Bannockburn Interchange and Green-cornhills Roundabout, near Stirling, on Sunday at 3.50pm.
The rear seat passengers of a Vauxhall Corsa, two males aged 17 and 19, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 17-year-old male, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he remains in a critical condition. A 17-year-old girl in the front seat was taken to hospital and later released.
The 29-year-old male driver of the HGV, who was not injured, was arrested and later released pending inquiries.
Police Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “My thoughts are with everyone involved in this incident and their families and friends at this difficult time. We will continue to offer support as our investigation progresses.
“It’s vital we establish exactly what happened here and I’m appealing to anyone who saw the crash, or either vehicle prior to it, to contact us.
“Regardless of how significant you believe the information you have is, we want to hear from you.
“I’d also ask drivers with dashcam footage of the area around the time to please review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.” SNP MSP for Stirling Evelyn Tweed said: “I am deeply saddened to hear that two young men have died.
“Unfortunately we have now seen several deaths on Stirling’s roads in recent weeks.
“I have submitted a written question to the Scottish Government to establish what support is available to improve road safety.”
