holiday home axe attacker jailed
Crazed thug terrorised family at remote property
A SCOTS holidaymaker has been jailed for an axe attack on a group of tourists in the middle of the night.
Mohammed Khan was sentenced after breaking into a holiday home armed with two of the bladed weapons.
The 36-year-old targeted a property in Wales last year where two families were staying during the “terrifying” incident.
Police were called after convicted criminal Khan – who was high on drink and drugs – smashed his way into the property.
He was later tasered and handcuffed by police.
Khan, from Rutherglen, near Glasgow, was on a community order from Westminster Magistrates Court when he committed the offence.
He pled guilty to affray over the incident in Barmouth last summer, Caernarfon Crown Court heard.
A judge said his victims, who included children, would have been terrified and jailed him for 20 months.
On Facebook, Khan claims to be a doctor and sells secondhand “genuine” perfumes along with other beauty products. He has 15 previous convictions for 39 offences including violence and perverting the course of justice.
Prosecutor Alexandra Carrier said four adults and two children had been staying at the remote property last August.
A man in the cottage was awoken by a bang on the front door at 2am.
Khan had picked up an axe from a nearby log pile and was hitting the door repeatedly.
Police were called but as the hour-long incident continued another guest saw someone coming down the stairs of the property and asked: “Is that the police?” However, it was Khan brandishing an axe and he replied: “No, it’s not the police.”
Two officers later arrived and found Khan outside.
The judge, His Honour Timothy Petts, told Khan: “It must have been a horrifying experience for those families.”
He will serve half his 20-month jail term and then be released on licence but has already served nearly seven months of his term on remand.
