SERIAL SEX FIEND CAGED FOR 12 YEARS
Ski mask intruder terrorised victim
A SERIAL rapist was jailed for 12 years after entering a victim’s home wearing a ski mask days after being freed on bail.
Gary Yuill, 45, woke the sleeping woman at her east Lothian property.
She told the high Court in edinburgh: “I opened my eyes and he was nose to nose with me. he had his ski mask and gloves on.”
Yuill began quizzing her about an earlier visitor to her home. She said: “he was obviously watching the house. I was terrified.”
She called 999 and said: “You need to get here fast.”
She said Yuill – who was subject to court conditions not to come near her home – removed the mask before leaving in May 2021. She
said: “Clearly he has no regard for the law.”
Yuill was granted bail three days earlier with conditions not to approach or contact the woman.
She said Yuill previously repeatedly assaulted her and subjected her to rapes.
She said: “he would say horrible, disgusting things. he was paranoid. he was constantly accusing me of cheating. he would slap me, punch me, knock me to the ground.” The woman and three others were subjected to a catalogue of depravity by Yuill over a 17-year period between 2004 and 2021.
Yuill, formerly of Wallyford, east Lothian, denied the charges but was convicted of 21 offences, including nine rapes. he was also found guilty of breaching bail.
Judge Lady Wise said: “All four women were to some extent vulnerable.”
She ordered Yuill be under supervision for a further four years after release and returned to jail if he breaches conditions.
She banned him indefinitely from attempting to contact the women and placed him on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.
