QUOTE OF THE DAY

‘The owners of both Dundee clubs need to pitch in and say ‘enough is enough’ and merge both clubs, it’s a nonsense’

new Dundee stadium? Probably the same as the tens of thousands of empty seats at the revamped Ibrox in the ‘80s, Carl. They would wait until there was a team worthy of filling them.

“Until then there would be at least eight games with the potential to fill the ground. Include games against Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs which would attract large travelling supporters.

“Build rail links, bring back football specials and clubs like St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Motherwell would travel in numbers. That leaves a sizable stadium which could host cup semi-finals, Challenge Cup finals and SWFA finals. I hope Carl’s enjoying his half-empty pint as the rain batters off the Dens Park pitch.”

On the decision to rearrange Dundee v Rangers for after next month’s title clash at Ibrox, Steven Macleod, Wokingham, said: “On VAR, we may as well keep it as if it goes there’ll be howls to get it back after the first decision in Rangers’ favour. The issue with VAR is it rewards players for falling over at the slightest touch, inconsistency on handball and a certain East End team’s inability to ever accept defeat graciously.”

John Davidson, Kirkintilloch, added: “No complaints about the rescheduling of the postponed game, for once the authorities have done Rangers a good turn, and rescheduled for after the Old Firm game. Onwards and upwards to the authorities.”

Finally, gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, chimed in: “Strange to see that Celtic have announced details for pre-season games. I didn’t realise that this season was over. I know Celtic supporters haven’t had much to look forward to this season but trying to make headlines for pre-season friendlies takes the biscuit.

“Here I was thinking that Celtic were having a bad year. How wrong I was as I now see that they still have to play massive games against Man City and Chelsea.”
