Don’t Col me baldy

Hendry leads from the front with hair transplant but after mulling it over it won’t be another mullet

- BY STUART MACDONALD

SCOTLAND legend Colin Hendry has had a hair transplant after being left devastated at losing his famous blonde locks. The ex-Rangers and Blackburn defender was famed for his mullet hairdo in his playing days. However his hairline has been receding in recent years and he said the thought of going completely bald was “doing me in”. The 58-year-old, who captained Scotland at the 1998 World Cup, had hair restoration treatment at Dr Mani Mittal’s clinic in London last month and his hair is now starting to grow again. Speaking on Talksport, he said: “I’ve had a hair transplant and it’s brilliant. It’s going the way it

should be going. Mani Mittal, a good pal of mine in London, did it.

“It was doing me in. I’ve had a head of hair for as long as I can remember and what a mullet that was. The mullet is not coming back but I will be happy with a bit of hair.

“The hair is on its way back but it takes a bit of time, it’s a long-drawn thing.”

Hendry shocked fans when he appeared at a Rangers legends match last year without his flowing locks.

In a post on social media about Hendry’s transplant, Dr Mittal said: “Many patients who are in the public eye prefer strict discretion but I’m pleased this gentleman is happy to go public and help many others.

“Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers and Scotland captain Colin Hendry.”

“Braveheart” started out at Dundee and also played for Manchester City. He earned 51 international caps for Scotland between 1993 and 2001.
