Warren: AJ Fury won’t squeeze in 2024 diary

-

FRANK WARREN insists a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will not happen this year.

Rival promoter Eddie Hearn is confident his man Joshua will get a chance to become a three-time world champ by taking on the winner of Fury’s clash with Oleksandr Usyk in May.

But as for 2024, Warren, who represents Fury, told talkSPORT: “No. How many times do we have to tell everybody? The position is really simplistic.

“The fight on May 18 in Riyadh, the loser will have the right to call for a rematch and they will do it because there is such huge amounts of money involved in it.”

SWIMMING: Duncan Scott routed his rivals at the Olympic trials in London, sending a message that he’s gunning for gold in Paris.

The Alloa ace clocked 1:55.91 in the 200 metres individual medley final and was well clear of Games contender Tom Dean.

Scott said: “It will be an interesting one come Paris.”

Katie Shanahan was second in the women’s 200m backstroke final, Holly Hibbott took the women’s 400m freestyle, Joe Litchfield the men’s 100m butterfly and Stephen Clegg won the S12 100m butterfly.

SNOOKER: Ronnie O’Sullivan reached his 64th ranking event final with a 10-7 win over Gary Wilson in the Tour Championship in Manchester last night.

He said: “I’m trying really hard not to get down on myself. A couple of weeks ago I would have probably thrown the towel in.

“But I’m trying really hard to change my mindset and hope positive things are around the corner.”

CURLING: Scotland beat Sweden 8-6 in the World Championships in Schaffhausen and now face USA in today’s quarter-finals.

Bruce Mouat’s rink had earlier beaten Norway 9-8.

TENNIS: Emma Raducanu is fit and ready to return for Great Britain in next week’s Billie Jean King Cup tie. The 2021 US Open champion has been back in training.
