Thug beat up delivery driver and stole his car
A THUG who beat up a Just Eat driver and stole his car before threatening to blow up a hospital has been jailed.
Darren nicol, 39, attacked driver Muhammed Hussan, 44, after he took a delivery to the wrong flats in Camelon, Falkirk.
Yesterday a court heard that as Muhammed began to walk towards the right address, nicol pointed at the meal and said, “That’s for me.” Muhammed told nicol it wasn’t for him.
Prosecutor James Moncrieff said: “Without warning the accused began punching Mr Hussan repeatedly. Mr Hussan was shouting ‘i’m sorry, i’m sorry’ while trying to cover himself.”
nicol took Muhammed’s keys and demanded to know where his car was. The “distressed” driver pointed to his Toyota Aygo. He was later seen driving in nearby stenhousemuir at excessively high speed” before crashing into a perimeter fence.
residents in the street believed he was under the influence of drink or drugs. in video footage played in court, one man shouts, “You could have hit any of the weans who are cutting about the street, you f***ing idiot.”
nicol was placed in a police van, where he yelled at an officer: “i’ll bite your f***ing nose off.”
He was taken to Forth Valley royal Hospital, where he said: “i’ve got a bomb strapped to me, i’m going to blow this place up.”
At stirling sheriff Court, nicol, of stenhousemuir, pleaded guilty to assault, driving dangerously under the influence of drink or drugs and breach of the peace. His solicitor said he had drunk vodka and Buckfast before the incident on october 2 last year.
sheriff Keith o’Mahony jailed him for 40 months and banned him from driving for 54 months for his “senseless acts”.
He said: “it was sheer luck there were not more severe consequences.”
