PASS UP THE PLAUDITS FOR POINTS
WALLACE DUFFY knows only results matter now for a Caley Thistle side often showered with praise for performances.
The quality of their passing play hasn’t always tallied with points on the board and Inverness sit third bottom in the Championship.
They claimed a 1-0 win at Hampden last weekend to jump above Queen’s Park in the fight to avoid a relegation play-off place.
And Duffy, set for his 100th appearance tonight against Raith, is ready to fight tooth and nail.
The former Scotland youth star said: “We maybe won’t need three wins from the last three games but it needs to be three positive results.
“I don’t think we can afford to lose ANY of the remaining games.
“We need to do what we’re good at and take care of whatever comes our way.
“We’re always confident passing the ball and I’ve heard lots of people say they can’t believe we are where we are in the table.
“Some of the pitches don’t make it easy to play our way but last Saturday was perfect conditions.
“For our victory over Queen’s Park, Hampden was pristine and the weather was alright so we finally got to show that we can pass the ball.
“Anyone watching would have been wondering how on earth we’re down at the bottom end of the table but we are where we are.
“A few more performances like that and I’m sure we’ll be OK.”
Reaching a century of appearances for Inverness comes secondary to survival in the Championship.
Duffy also wants to improve on his goals tally after netting the fourth and fifth of his Caley Thistle career in the last four games.
The versatile defender said: “To reach 100 games is good but I probably should have done it a long time ago.
“I’ve had lots of injuries and inconsistency so I should have played a lot more than I have.
“but it’s a nice milestone to have.
“I’ve chipped in with the odd goal but this season I could have had eight. I’ve missed so many sitters.”
