Morgyn hopes to put call out to midwives

-

IF ALLOA secure their play-off spot tonight, the midwives of Wishaw hospital merit a mention when the credits roll.

But Morgyn Neill is adamant even if their fate is settled there will be no sticking the feet up – because he wants another shot at Hamilton.

Wasps head to Cove knowing a win in the TV clash clinches their play-off status and could guarantee third place too.

Neill has been balancing the push for the play-offs with becoming a dad to Jackson, whom wife Sara gave birth to the day before February’s comeback victory at Accies.

That capped their climb up the table and Neill would relish a return to New Douglas Park in the end-of-season shakeup – a reality should they hold on to third.

The defender, 28, said: “Jackson was born on the Friday morning. I missed training on the Thursday because I wasn’t sure if Sara would be taken into the ward.

“The gaffer said, ‘No problem’ but I’m like, ‘Look, I’ll be fine for Saturday, don’t you worry’. Come Friday night, everybody’s seen the wean, the midwife has said they’d be allowed out on Saturday morning.

“Speaking to the nurses, one said, ‘I heard something about football, do you have a game at the weekend?’ I said, ‘I’m playing at Hamilton, not far...I was just wondering what time Sara would get discharged so I can take them home and still get to my game?’

“I was told, ‘Don’t you worry, we’ll make sure she is first on the list to get out.’ Sara didn’t want me to miss it either.

“We beat Hamilton 2-1 so that was icing on the cake. We’re in a good position so hopefully we can win and cement our place in the play-offs. That doesn’t mean we take our foot off the gas.

“We want to finish third. I’d rather play Hamilton than whoever finishes second bottom of the Championship as they are in the league above for a reason.”

Cove boss Paul Hartley has only been able to name three outfield subs in their last four games and midfielder Fraser Fyvie is the latest to join the injured list.

Fyvie said: “We’ve never really been able to put the same team together. We’re going into Saturday a bit bare again but it’s important the boys go on to the pitch with a bit of confidence and belief that whoever is putting on the jersey can do the job and get points on the board.”
