Loan Ranger Abdallah just lovin’ Govan

- BY FRASER WILSON

ABDALLAH SIMA has opened the door to a permanent move to Rangers after admitting he loves life at Ibrox.

The Brighton loanee has become a firm favourite with the fans after smashing in 15 goals in the first half of the season.

A cruelly-timed thigh injury picked up on international duty in January curtailed the Senegal forward’s flow.

But he has returned in the last three weeks and climbed off the bench to help spark the second half fightback against Celtic with a thunderous second goal.

Sima is due to return to his parent club in the summer but Gers boss Philippe Clement has already stated his desire to keep the 22-year-old in Govan.

Asked if he was ready to find a new permanent home after three loan deals at Ibrox, Angers and Stoke City, Sima said: “You never know in football, anything can happen.

“But my last season wasn’t perfect. So the most important thing is where I feel happy and I feel happy here.

“I always say that. I have everything here to feel happy and I am also playing football.

“I am just focused on my season now. We have hopefully got seven games left. Then we are going to think about the future.

“The most important thing now is I’m happy to be here. My family as well. So I’m enjoying being here.

“Rangers were the perfect team for me to play in games and get experience. I never expected to have a season like this, to be honest. I hope to give everything for the final games.”

A defeat at Ross County last Sunday and a midweek draw in Dundee have left Rangers’ title hopes hanging.

But a Scottish Cup semi-final against Hearts tomorrow opens the door for another crack at silverware to add to the League Cup that was lifted in November.

Sima warned: “If we are going to win the last two trophies we have to win every game. We have to focus on ourselves, work hard, and be hungry to win. I believe in my team-mates and staff. So we are going to try to win these games and I want to help.”
