LIONHEARTS CELTS BEAT DONS BEFORE LISBON 1937: CELTIC 2, ABERDEEN 1

Famous for creating a world attendance record of 147,365 as fans squeezed into Hampden to watch Aberdeen play their first Scottish Cup Final. Matt Armstrong immediatel­y levelled after John Crum had given Celtic the lead but Willie Buchan won it for the Hoops.

1967: CELTIC 2, ABERDEEN 0

Celtic comfortabl­y claimed the Scottish Cup – their third of five trophies in a season that would culminate in European Cup glory in Lisbon Willie Wallace netted both goals after Aberdeen manager Eddie Turnbull fell ill before the game and couldn’t attend.

2000: CELTIC 2, ABERDEEN 0

Aberdeen would go onto finish bottom of the league under Ebbe Skovdahl but they somehow reached both domestic cup finals that seasons. Celtic easily beat them to lift League Cup thanks to goals from Vidar Riseth and Tommy Johnson. Thomas Solberg was sent off for the Dons.

2016: CELTIC 3, ABERDEEN 0

The Hoops collected their 100th major trophy by claiming the League Cup as Aberdeen were swatted aside in a one-sided Hampden contest. Tom Rogic opened the scoring before James Forrest added to their advantage. A Moussa Dembele penalty after the break ended any doubts about the outcome.

2017: CELTIC 2, ABERDEEN 1

Celtic completed their fourth Treble and landed a 37th Scottish Cup with a dramatic win over the Dons, who had taken an early lead through Jonny Hayes. Stuart Armstrong equalised almost immediatel­y and Tom Rogic won it deep into injury-time with a brilliant solo goal.
