We’re more than a mat for anyone says Strachan

- BY ALAN ROBERTSON

RYAN STRACHAN hopes a night on the yoga mats breathes life back into Peterhead’s promotion push.

The Blue Toon trail Spartans 2-1 going into the second leg of their play-off semi-final at Balmoor.

And player and co-boss Strachan believes they can still make it to the final. He said: “We’re firmly in this tie with home advantage now.

“If we play the same sort of gameplan as Tuesday, we’ll give ourselves a great chance.

“We controlled pretty much the whole game. We just need to stay committed to our plan.

“We did yoga on Thursday so no training. You’re working on breathing and stretching, so it’s got benefits.”

Marc McNulty wants to help Spartans complete the job today to keep in his father-in-law’s good books.

The striker is married to Ainsley Park boss Dougie Samuel’s daughter and he said: “It was a good win on Tuesday. It maybe wasn’t our best performance but in games like this its all about winning, not how you perform.

“The boys showed great character to come back from a goal down. It’s only half time in the tie and we know Peterhead are a really good team with a lot of good players. But we’ve gone up there, played well and beaten them three times this season so it’s good to be going into the game with a one-goal advantage.

“Now it’s a case of rest and recover and we go again.”
