RANGERS went into the match top but Celts’ win turned the tables. Scott McDonald fired Gordon Strachan’s side in front but David Weir and Daniel Cousin netted as Rangers came back. McDonald, below, netted his second just before the break and Celtic won it through Barry Robson’s penalty as Rangers also had Steven Whittaker sent off.

BRENDAN RODGERS’ side lifted the title by dismantling Rangers. Celtic were 3-0 up and cruising by half-time thanks to an Odsonne Edouard double and another from James Forrest. Second-half goals from Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor put the icing on the cake as Celtic made it seven in a row and caretaker boss Graeme Murty knew his chances of landing the Rangers manager’s job on a permanent basis had gone with this result.

COMING through this game unscathed would put Ange Postecoglou’s side within touching distance of the title. Jota’s first-half goal put Celtic ahead. Gers equalised through Fashion Sakala but couldn’t get the winner despite piling on the pressure. The Hoops went on to beat Hearts 4-1 and clinch the title with a draw at Dundee United on the penultimate day to secure a league and League Cup double.

ANGE POSTECOGLOU’S side were clear at the top and Rangers needed to win. Kyogo Furuhashi put Celtic ahead but James Tavernier equalised. The Japanese frontman netted for a second time and Jota, right, looked to have sealed the win with a third, although Tavernier got another back but it was nothing more than a consolation. This proved to be fatal for Gers. Celtic went on to claim the title three games later with a 2-0 win over Hearts.
