Video of Scotland fans singing anthem aimed at inspiring Euro hopefuls

- BY STUART MACDONALD

THE Tartan Army is being asked to submit videos for a film that will be presented to the Scotland squad before they fly out to the Euros in Germany.

charity Prostate scotland wants football fans across the country to send in funny and supportive clips to inspire steve clarke’s side for the tournament.

The film will accompany barber John Pryde’s fan song We’re On Our Way (to Germany).

it is part of a campaign created by the charity to raise money and get scotland singing and excited in the run-up to the Euros, where scotland will play the opening match against the hosts on June 14.

John, 47, a hair salon owner from south Queensferry, said: “i hope fans love chanting the song. it’s an emotive sounding song with pipes and drums, and a German oompah style to it.

“We also wanted to pay tribute to the traditional sound of Andy cameron’s 1978 song.

“it’s all these vibes that have gone into how the song has been written and composed and we hope it stands the test of time as an anthem song.

“For the videos, we’re asking fans to show us their excitement for watching the championship by getting dressed up in their scotland gear and chanting the song for the film – let’s come together, get behind the boys, have some fun and join me in raising money for Prostate scotland.”

All the royalties from the song and donations will go to Prostate scotland’s work and contribute to its vital support services that help men navigate prostate disease and cancer.

Alan McNeill, a consultant urologist and Prostate scotland trustee, said: “We’re really excited about the song and hope fans chant it from terraces, streets, bars, fan zones, gardens, parks – you name it – throughout Euro 2024, and beyond. “John has been my barber for years. “it has been an absolute pleasure to be part of his journey and hear the song in development.

“We hope fans get involved, spread the song, help us make the film and make a donation.”

One of the campaign’s aims is that it will make more scottish men aware of their prostate, know what symptoms to look out for, seek help, and get an early diagnosis.

• Videos should be filmed in landscape and to the highest possible quality – HD/4k in video settings – and emailed from phones to scotlandonourway@gmail. com by Friday, May 31.
