alicia silverstone’s breakout movie role came in this whip-smart high school comedy about peer pressure that’s loosely based on Jane austen’s classic novel Emma. she plays a vapid wannabe cupid called Cher alongside ant-man’s paul Rudd as her stepbrother Josh. (1995/12) ★★★★
LOGAN 9PM, E4
in this 10th X-men film, Hugh Jackman is an ageing and tired logan who spends his days caring for an even more decrepit professor X (patrick stewart). His “retirement” ends abruptly when a mutant child comes to him for help. a violent but thoughtful film with a gritty performance from Jackman. (2017/15) ★★★★
MONDAY SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME
7.45pm, BBC one spider-man seeks the help of Doctor strange after his secret identity as peter parker is exposed. However, strange’s spell goes horribly wrong, leading to unwanted guests entering their universe – as well as some familiar faces. (2021/12) ★★★★

You get a lot of Tom Hanks for your money in this overlong drama that follows his character’s four-year fight for survival on a desert island. most of the action centres on his increasingly scraggly beard and blossoming relationship with a football he names Wilson. silly but fun if you

Leonardo Dicaprio’s CV is an embarrassment of riches but this is one of his very best films. in a crime tale based on real events, he plays a charismatic con artist who scams millions of dollars while posing as an airline pilot, lawyer and doctor. (2002/12) ★★★★

Tom Cruise is right at home in this action
