£86! That’s what new Willis film took at the box office

THERE’S NOTHING LIKE A GOOD PIE-UP

-

BRUCE Willis continues to die hard at the box office, with his latest flick taking just £86 on its opening weekend.

The star has endured a string of flops this decade but the paltry UK returns for Precious Cargo could be a new low.

Only five cinemas in Britain agreed to screen the movie…and they were rewarded with average takings of just £17.

Critics have panned the crime ANDY LEA thriller, which was also available to watch via video-on-demand services.

The film, in which Willis plays a revenge-seeking mobster, currently holds a rare 0% rating on review website Rotten Tomatoes.

In August 2013, Sylvester Stallone branded the 61-year-old “greedy and lazy” after he demanded $1million a day to star in action movie The Expendables 3.

A furious Stallone, 70, who was the film’s producer, refused to pay up and cast Harrison Ford instead.

Since Stallone’s outburst, Die Hard star Willis has appeared in six flicks, three of which have gone straight to DVD and download in the UK.

His previous cinematic release, Rock The Kasbah, was another box office bomb. It bagged just £3,804 on its opening weekend in the UK, an average of £56 a screen.

According to the website Box Office Mojo, it was also the fifth-worst US opening of all time for a film playing in more than 2,000 cinemas. TOM INGHAM A GUT-BUSTING fry-up in a pie has gone on sale in supermarkets. The “pie-up” – containing black pudding, bacon, sausage and baked beans – was the brainchild of trucker Blair Green. He says it is the perfect “breakfast on the go”.

Blair, winner of Asda’s Dream Pie contest, said he was sure it would be a hit with shoppers. He said: “Working as a HGV driver on the road for long hours at a time means that having an enjoyable sit-down meal can be a luxury.

“That’s when I came up with the idea of having all the elements of a full breakfast in a single pie.

“Who doesn’t love a traditional fry-up? And now it’s in a handy, all-in-one pastry shell.

“I was thrilled when Asda told me I’d won and it’s brilliant to see my idea on the shelves being sold to Asda customers.”

The pie, which costs £1.25, won’t have customers piling on the pounds as it contains just 265 calories.

So far the pies are only available in Scotland but the company hopes to roll them out across the UK. Scotland is a land of pastry-lovers with 13% more pies eaten there per year than in England.

Asda recognised Scots’ pie know-how and asked for their help with the recipe.

It was sourced via a social media campaign in conjunction with Ayrshirebased family butchers We Hae Meat.

An Asda spokesman said: “It’s been brilliant to work directly with our customers to source and develop the ultimate pie recipe.”
