PHIL DAMPIER LOVESTRUCK Prince Harry has begged his new girlfriend Meghan Markle to move to London early next year.
Friends say the royal romeo is “terrified” of losing the 35-year-old American beauty now their sixmonth affair has been made public.
A close pal said: “Harry was hoping to keep it a secret for as long as possible.
“His previous two girlfriends, Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas, couldn’t cope with being in the spotlight and he is desperate not to lose Meghan.
“The good thing is that she is an actress who enjoys the limelight and she seems well able to deal with the pressure. But it’s not easy when she’s on the other side of the pond.
“Harry understands that she has work commitments but he has asked her to move to London as soon as possible, maybe early next year, so that they can be together.
Our source added: “He thinks life will become very difficult for her but if she lives with him at Kensington Palace she will be behind walls and protected.
“He is obviously worried because she now lives in Toronto, Canada, and a longdistance love affair is never easy.
“The next few months are going to be a big test of the strength of their relationship.”
Royal insiders say Harry has already introduced Meghan, who plays Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits, to William and Kate.
And the pal believes wedding bells could be in the air, saying: “Things are moving at such a pace that I wouldn’t be surprised if Harry wants to get engaged soon.
“He has told friends Meghan is ‘the one’ and he is besotted with her.
“If he can persuade her to move to London, then who knows?”
When the Daily Star Sunday broke the story last week, Harry was at a Halloween party in Toronto with Meghan and friends.
One report said he even went out trick or treating in a mask.
He spent several days with Meghan at her apartment in an upmarket suburb of Toronto, and neighbours reported seeing blacked-out cars and a heavy security presence.
Harry reportedly returned to London last Tuesday and on Thursday Meghan emerged from her home, remaining tight-lipped about the romance.
The friend added: “They have been talking constantly on the phone since he got back and having a good laugh about it all.
“Harry knew it would come out one day – he just hoped he could have enjoyed Meghan to himself for a bit longer.”
