Strictly a step too far for Jez

-

MICHAEL Bublé has pulled out of an appearance on Strictly following his son’s cancer diagnosis.

We can exclusively reveal the Canadian superstar was booked to perform on the show to promote his new album Nobody But Me later this month.

But the devastated singer, 41, has cancelled the appearance to be with three-year-old Noah. He issued a statement on Friday saying he would be spending all his “time and attention to help Noah to get better” by suspending work commitments.

Our Strictly source said: “Michael was booked to perform but that is no longer likely, due to Noah’s condition.” LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn is too scared to sign up for Strictly.

He made the confession to former shadow chancellor Ed Balls, who is starring in the current series.

In an exclusive chat, Ed said: “Me and Jeremy discussed the idea of him doing Strictly when we were on the Peston show together. He said to me ‘good luck… but I’d rather you than me’. And that’s probably the right call.”

Ed insists he has no plans to return to politics, especially now MPs are tackling Brexit.

He said: “People in parliament have got a big job to do. But I’ll be focusing on my quickstep.

“I was there for 20 years and then I lost my seat. And I think it’s good in life to look forward.

“I’ve no idea what I’ll do when Strictly is over. At the moment I don’t really mind. I’m still doing some speaking around the world.” EXCLUSIVE Bookies predicted Ed would get voted off the show weeks ago but he has so far escaped the dance-off. He said: “I don’t think I can win but I’ll give it my best shot. There are a lot better dancers than me. But at the same time I’m trying hard. If I can keep improving, who knows what will happen?” Judge Craig Revel Horwood has even tipped Ed to make the final next month. Craig told us: “He’s entertaining the nation and that’s what Strictly is all about. “Each week the public have 50% of the vote so they can turn the leaderboard on its head. And Ed could win the day. “If the public want to see Ed with a great big Glitterball on his mantelpiece at home, then fine. “I can only encourage people to vote with their hearts and their minds. “I don’t think he’ll win, but maybe he will make the final.” CLAUDIA Fragapane hopes her Strictly stint will help her be a winner at the next Olympics. The gymnast failed to land a medal in Rio this summer but she is still hoping for success at Tokyo in 2020. Claudia said: “I’m taking all this experience. I’ve grown from this and I have been loving it. “I have a new floor routine and I’m trying to add stuff I have learned.” She danced the Paso Doble with partner AJ Pritchard on last night’s show. And Claudia revealed the Latin dance gave her the chance to use the “stern face” she dons for her gymnastic routines. She added: “I want to take all this experience and put it in my gymnastics. I want to go on to 2020.” Claudia’s sporting background has helped her avoid serious injury during training sessions and she added: “I’m feeling really good.” ED GLEAVE
