THE KU KLUX BAND

-

A SICKO singer who wore a Ku Klux Klan robe at a racist music festival is set to be probed by police.

Neo-Nazi factory worker Chris Lewis wore the outfit while performing at the event in Budapest, Hungary, as part of the band Redneck 28.

With wife Debra on drums, the group were captured on video playing a song called “N****r likes chicken”.

Their back catalogue also contains songs supporting the Holocaust and about lynching black people.

But the shocking couple cowered in fear when confronted by the Daily Star Sunday this week.

Chris refused to speak and sped off in his car – which has Confederate flag seatbelt covers – after being approached outside the kitchen equipment factory where he works in Fforestfach, Swansea.

Meanwhile, betting shop worker Debra’s eyes filled with tears when questioned about the Budapest event.

The heavily-tattooed brunette stuttered: “I don’t want to talk about that.” She claimed she could not recall the performance.

The couple are said to be terrified of their antics being exposed, with Chris begging “Please remove this video” beneath the YouTube clip of him singing in his robes.

Swansea East MP Carolyn Harris slammed the couple’s actions.

She said: “The offensive and repugnant behaviour of these so-called entertainers has been brought to my attention in the past.

“I’m advised that their activities are currently the subject of police interest. There is absolutely no place for the warped hatred these individuals promote.

“Thankfully, such racist claptrap is unrepresentative of the majority of people in Swansea.”

Anti-racism group Hope Not Hate said it was vital that police “close Redneck 28 down”. A spokesman added: “This video is disgusting, but it is not an isolated incident. We are aware of band members dressing up in KKK outfits at racist concerts in this country.”

Hope Not Hate revealed that Redneck 28 were “very worried” by recent police and media investigations.

The digits 2 and 8 in the band’s name represent the position of B for “blood” and H for “honour” in the alphabet. Blood and Honour is a far-right organisation.

The group even posed next to Ku Klux Klan members who “lynched” a golliwog puppet at a Welsh hate demo in 2013.

A South Wales Police spokesman said they were “grateful” for information on Redneck 28, and warned the force “will not tolerate hate crime and will take robust action to prosecute wherever possible”.
