Eddie in Boklash warning

-

GARY FITZGERALD ENGLAND must be ready to be deal with a South African backlash at Twickenham on Saturday.

Head coach Eddie Jones has told his players that the Sprinkboks will be DESPERATE to reverse their dreadful recent form.

South Africa came under fire from their own fans after a dismal Rugby Championship campaign saw them win just two of their six games.

But they arrive in England aiming to tighten their stranglehold over the hosts which stretches back 12 games.

Jones, though, would love to get one over the country he helped beat England in the 2007 World Cup Final as their No.2.

The Australian (below) said: “They have had a terrible year and have lost four of their last five Tests.

“Imagine if you’re a Springbok player in South Africa now – you are going to be copping it from all over the place – the media, fans, friends.

“South Africa are almost at the moment where they are at the point of no return, they are going to come here with enormous desire so we have to meet that.

“They know if they beat England then they go home as heroes.

“They will have a certain amount of desperation in their minds and desire changes performance.

“At the end of the day it comes down to our players’ mindset. We know what we are going to get from South Africa.”

Jones is good friends with Springbok coach Allister Coetzee but will have no sympathy if he piles the pressure on him.

“Allister is a terrific fella and we have worked very closely together in the past,” said Jones.

“He has a sharp rugby brain and is very good with people. Also, he is the sort of guy that can absorb the pressure that has been on him.”
