Good to see you! HUGO’S HAPPY

-

TOTTENHAM captain Hugo Lloris cannot wait for the return of striker Harry Kane.

The England international is set to be on the bench for Spurs for today’s game at Arsenal after more than six weeks out.

And Lloris, 29, admits his side have desperately missed the injured forward and need him back to ignite their season.

“We miss Harry. You know how important he is to the team,” said the Frenchman.

“We have some important players in the team and when they miss some games sometimes it can affect the balance of the side. But now we can’t have excuses and just look ahead to Arsenal.

“How’s Harry been in training? You need to talk to the gaffer. I think he’s ready but the medical staff take the decision.”

Kane’s record of 51 goals in 88 matches emphasises how vital he is to this Spurs side.

They have scored just twice in their last five matches in all competitions – not the ideal time for a trip to Arsenal then.

The Gunners are on a high after a run of blistering results, Mesut Ozil is at his best and everyone at The Emirates is still smirking about pipping Spurs to second place in the table last season.

Spurs goalkeeper Lloris added: “We used to score more that is true but we have no excuse.

“We’re all involved in that, it’s not only the offensive players and we need to work hard to find a solution.”

They could not find that solution on Wednesday night as they slumped to a miserable 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League at Wembley.

Lloris admits he is still hurting after that defeat.

He said: “It is difficult to accept that kind of performance from us.

“We are aggressive and calm under pressure but Wednesday was completely the opposite.

“However, in football there are ups and downs.

“We need to learn quickly because there is a big, big game at Arsenal to come.”

Despite the magnitude of this afternoon’s game, Lloris has told his Spurs team-mates to focus on winning the game and not on the fact it is a derby.

The former Lyon stopper said: “You cannot fight against one club although I can understand the importance for the fans.

“We are players and we have to try to do our job as well as we possibly can.

“It’s a rival but it’s not only Arsenal we are fighting against, there are a lot of great teams. We just want to put the club as high as possible.

“We know the way we played on Wednesday wasn’t good enough.

“Hopefully, we have had a few days to catch up and be ready for the game with Arsenal.”
