Child killer ‘seeks safety in sex change’

-

CHILD killer Ian Huntley wants a sex change to get a move to a female prison – and to become as notorious as Moors murderer Ian Brady.

So believes psychologist Mike Berry who says Soham beast Huntley does not hate women in the same way as the Yorkshire Ripper or vice girl murderer Steve Wright. After the Daily Star Sunday sensationally revealed the child killer wanted a sex change, he began signing photos of himself with the name “Lian”.

Huntley, serving 40 years for JOE HINTON the 2002 murders of best pals Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells, is also asking fellow prisoners at Durham’s all-male Frankland jail to use the female version of his name. Prof Berry, who has worked on some of Britain’s most notorious killings, reckons Huntley, 43, is cynically manufacturing his new image.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: “You would have to say Huntley is doing this to get a move to a female prison. “He has already been viciously attacked and remains a high-profile target so it would make sense for him to want to move. “The only way he feels he can do that is by moving to a women’s prison. “I have come across a few prisoners who have been switched from a male prison to a female one after having sex changes – just to get away from the threats posed to them from other prisoners.

“I think there’s an element of enjoyment there too. He certainly doesn’t hate women in the way that Peter Sutcliffe or Steve Wright did. “He’s more of a sexual deviant, which better explains his motives for the murders he carried out.

“There’s also an element of attention seeking at play.”

A Prison Service spokesman said Huntley was not planning transitioning to switch gender.
