DEMBELE’S GONE FROM DUMPING SPURS OUT TO PLOTTING ROUTE TO FINAL STAT ATTACK

anything can happen – so we need to be focused for this.”

Tottenham have not won a trophy since the League Cup in 2007 and Dembele wants to win silverware soon.

“We know we can do special things. We just want to win something and we’re going to take the cups seriously,” he said.

“It’s for the manager, as well as the players. A lot of players here have won things but as a group we want to win something together.”

Dembele is the heartbeat of a Tottenham team whose hunt for honours on three fronts could come to a shuddering halt in the next week.

After today’s FA Cup tie, Spurs go into the second leg of their Europa League tie against Gent at Wembley on Thursday 1-0 down.

Following that they face Stoke at White Hart Lane next Sunday, knowing that another league defeat will leave them with too much ground to make up on league leaders Chelsea.

Spurs have yet to lose three successive games under Mauricio Pochettino and his players want to help the Argentinian win the first trophy of his promising managerial career.

The last time they lost a trio of games was in March 2014, under Tim Sherwood, and Dembele says Spurs need to get back to winning ways, after losing in his native Belgium on Thursday.

Gent are only eighth in the Belgian League but pulled off an upset against an out-of-sorts Spurs side and Dembele knows Fulham could do the same.

The ex-AZ Alkmaar star said: “We deserved to lose against Gent. They were very sharp and overall they were more motivated – maybe we underestimated them.

“I know Fulham well and it won’t be an easy game. It is a small pitch and they will be up for it so we need to deal with it.”
