Champ Laura gets tot tips from Elton
CYCLING golden girl Laura Kenny has been getting tips on being a parent from Sir Elton John. The four-time Olympic champ, 25, married to fellow cycling hero Jason, is expecting her first child. In recent months the couple have grown close to Sir Elton, inset, who had two children using a surrogate mum. Laura told the Daily Star Sunday: “Elton is always there for me when I need him. I can’t thank him enough for the help he’s given me. “He’s given me some great advice because obviously he’s been through it himself. One of the things he told me was to embrace the moment. “He reminded me that this is mine and Jason’s special moment before the baby comes. He told us to make the most of all EXCLUSIVE ED GLEAVE of it.” Sir Elton has helped Laura so much she’d like him to be a mentor for her child.
She added: “I’ve had so much support from him. It would be amazing if he would be godfather.”
Laura has won countless medals for her country, but admitted being invited to Elton’s home is still her highlight.
She said: “He asked me and Jason to his house for lunch. That was a surreal and incredible moment and he was the perfect host.
“We were worried so we ate before we went. And then they brought out a Caesar salad and I was so glad it was something light.
“I didn’t want to be that embarrassing person that leaves their food! But the food we had was really good. His house was insane. I couldn’t believe it. It was absolutely spotless. And it was massive – it was three houses in one. “It really was your dream home. I could never imagine living there.” Last week Laura and Jason, 29, received CBEs at Buckingham Palace. Essex-born Laura celebrated with a night out at the BT Sport Industry Awards on Thursday. She said: “It’s not often I get to dress up. In the sport I’m in you wear lycra and a helmet and nobody ever gets to see my face. So it’s quite nice to actually feel girly. “Going to events is such a perk. I went to the Pride of Britain awards last year. “There are all the celebs you see on telly who you think are fake because they’re behind a glass screen. But at an event like that you get to meet them. That’s quite cool.”
