BOXER’S WIFE FARYAL HITS BACK AT HER I’ve taken the flak, but I’m the only one standing by Amir at his lowest ebb

-

ED GLEAVE BOXING star Amir Khan’s wife has refused to back down in her bitter war with his family and declared: “I don’t give a s***.”

Defiant Faryal Makhdoom also slammed Amir’s loved ones for turning their backs on him – and boasted that their marriage is stronger than ever.

There has been bad blood between the model and Amir’s parents for years.

Faryal told the Daily Star Sunday: “After all the negativity and stuff Amir gets, at the end of the day he comes home to me. So I really don’t give a s***.

“To all the people who said, ‘his wife’s not going to be around’ and ‘his wife is after his money’ – you know what, I’m still here at the lowest point of my husband’s life.”

In a dig at his parents, Faryal added: “After everything Amir has been through I’m the only one still standing here – no-one else is.

“I don’t see some of his friends, I don’t see some of his family members.

“But I’m still here. That makes him realise, ‘She is The One’.”

Last year Amir’s parents moved out of the home they shared with the couple and said their daughterin-law was “very evil” because of her “un-Islamic” dress.

She later hit back online and claimed they were bullying her.

Admitting she now regrets speaking out, Faryal said: “It was something that should have never come out to begin with. But there were things out there and I had to justify myself. And I did after three-and-a-half years. I didn’t want to do it.

“It is hard because sometimes you can’t go back and erase your mistakes. But I felt like it had to be out because I never thought it could have gotten better. Sometimes it does upset me but that’s life. I think it’s made us stronger.”

Amir has now made a plea through the Daily Star Sunday to his parents to mend the rift with Faryal.

He said: “I think the best way for this to work is both parties sit down and hopefully settle things and speak things out.

“My wife is happy to do that. It’s all just petty stuff really. It was small stuff that just got big.

“Obviously it was a little bit difficult for me because I’ve always been a good son to my parents and every- thing – it was a tough situation. I love my wife and everything. She has always been there for me.” Amir is determined not to let the family drama affect his boxing career. He suffered a devastating defeat against Canelo Alvarez last summer in Las Vegas. But he blames the loss on moving up two weight divisions – and has vowed to get back on track. Amir, from Bolton, Lancs, said: “I knew that I was going into the fight as the underdog, but I really believed I could win it.

“With boxing you can lose it in one punch.

“My coach did tell me to avoid the big punches because Alvarez had that weight behind him and that power. I bulked up but it wasn’t natural to me. I realised for me to go up a weight is very hard. My body is not made for middleweight.

“That’s why I’ve gone back down to my division. If I was fighting anyone in my own weight division that night I would have won.

“If I got offered that again I would not take it because I’m not big enough.”
