Old boy Schneid wants to win it for Mauricio

-

MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN would love to throw a spanner in the works in the title race – and see his old boss Mauricio Pochettino being crowned King of England.

Schneiderlin’s Everton host leaders Chelsea at Goodison this afternoon and a home triumph would turn up the heat in the final run-in to become champions.

If Chelsea crash and Tottenham beat London rivals Arsenal later today, the gap between the top two will be down to just one point.

And with four fixtures left after today, it would be game on for Spurs to win their first league title since 1961 after “wowing” the France midfielder all season.

Schneiderlin is up for playing a major role in Tottenham making history after that agonising 56-year wait for champions’ medals.

He struck up an everlasting bond with Spurs boss Pochettino during their time together at Southampton where Schneiderlin spent seven years of his career.

Schneiderlin, 27, said: “You don’t need to be good at maths to know that if Spurs win and we beat Chelsea, then it’s one point.

“Everything is possible in football and I am sure they think like this and they hope we can win.

“I haven’t played against Chelsea this season but Tottenham are the most impressive team I have played against.

“What Pochettino is STEVE MILLAR doing as a manager with Tottenham is amazing.

“I hope he will get the title this season or next season. I am sure he is going to get it in the next few years. When I watch Tottenham play I just say, ‘Wow’. It’s very entertaining and Mauricio is someone who deserves it because he works very hard for it.”

But Schneiderlin (left) does not have to be reminded about how dangerous Chelsea can be – or the effect N’Golo Kante has had.

Schneiderlin, who voted for the new PFA Footballer of the Year, added: “We all saw his performances last year for Leicester. He does his talking on the pitch where he is someone who runs and runs and plays simple but good passes.” Morgan Schneiderlin was speaking at a Premier League Primary Stars event at St Aloysius Catholic Primary School in Liverpool.
