Duo will have the last laugh, vows David I’LL BRING BACK THE CHUCKLE BROTHERS

Kyle: Bullies hit me with scooter

BRITAIN’S Got Talent’s Golden Buzzer act Kyle Tomlinson was smashed in the face with a metal scooter by school bullies.

Judge David Walliams sent the comeback kid straight through to the live shows last night thanks to his performance of Hallelujah.

Kyle’s show-stopping audition was even more impressive as it came three years after he failed to get a single “yes” from the panel.

At the time, David even told him to get singing lessons – and he took his advice. But viewers did not know that Kyle has suffered physical and mental abuse due to his size and love of singing.

The 15-year-old, from Sheffield, South Yorks; said: “I’m a big lad so I’ve always been bullied in school.

“People picked on me for singing and said I was rubbish.

“They took the mick out of me and took advantage. “I once got smashed across the face with a metal scooter. “But, you know, that’s life – sometimes you have to literally take it on chin.”

However, Kyle is now set to have the last laugh after becoming a bookies’ favourite to make the final.

He thanked grandad Cyril, 79, for his remarkable comeback after he spent thousands of pounds on singing lessons for Kyle. Kyle’s live semi-final performance will be bittersweet as Cyril is in hospital with terminal cancer.

Kyle said: “My nan and grandad couldn’t make it to the audition.

“He was waiting by the phone and they cried when I went through.

“My grandad said me going through ‘made his life’ which makes me so proud.

“He is planning to watch it in hospital with all the nurses.” ED GLEAVE DAVID Walliams hopes to put The Chuckle Brothers back on primetime TV.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge reckons they are just what the nation needs in 2017.

Double act Barry and Paul Chuckle’s slapstick humour made them top TV stars for decades.

But their series ChuckleVision was axed by BBC chiefs in 2009 due to poor ratings. Since then the duo, right, have made just a handful of TV appearances.

But Walliams – who is now one of the biggest names in TV comedy – is convinced he could engineer their comeback.

He said: “I would love to do a children’s TV series one day. And I would love to bring The Chuckle Brothers back. They are an old-style comedy double act and they do clowning and they are really funny.

“I think they should be back on children’s TV.”

David reckons many old-school entertainers are being forgotten by viewers and has called on TV chiefs to keep their memories alive.

He said: “I would like to make documentaries about people who are a little bit forgotten.

“There was this comedian called Charles Hawtrey, who was in the Carry On films, and he has never really had a big biography.

“He had a very interesting life. He did an incredible thing. He would smoke and get drunk a lot.

“His apartment started to burn down and the firemen came, and because he liked firemen and he was about 75 at the time, he took all his clothes off so that the firemen had to carry him down the ladder JAMES INGHAM Regarding David Walliam’s previous comments, Kyle said: “It was spot on what he said. “He said I needed singing lessons and I’ve been practising ever since.” naked. So I would love to make a documentary about someone like him. If we don’t keep telling stories about people like that then they get lost.”

Over the years David, right, has worked on comedy shows including the smash Little Britain and Come Fly With Me.

He credits classic hits for inspiring him to become a comedian. David said: “I started off watching Laurel and Hardy. I used to watch them with my dad. And then there was a golden age of sitcoms like Are You Being Served?, Dad’s Army and Hi-de-Hi. Then I got interested in Peter Sellers, Tony Hancock, Monty Python. And I worshipped Rowan Atkinson.”

David also revealed the Queen is a big fan of his work. He said: “When I met the Queen she mentioned it to me and said she followed the stories in the newspapers. I was thrilled I was on her radar.” ED GLEAVE LISA Riley is being lined up for Dancing on Ice.

The skating contest will be back in the new year and bosses are “desperate” to have her in the celeb line-up.

Bookers for the ITV series are set to make a big-money offer within weeks.

Lisa starred on Strictly five years ago and was a huge hit with viewers – and it has made her keen to try out Dancing on Ice. Confirming she would like to do the show, Lisa said: “I definitely want to do it. I just want a different reality show experience.

“It would be different for me than when I did Strictly. I couldn’t do the moves and the lifts. The bloke could lift me instead.” Dancing on Ice would give Lisa an opportunity to show off her amazing weight loss.

The show is famed for its contestants’ skimpy, tight-fitting outfits.

Lisa has recently shed an incredible 12st – half her body weight.
