‘Brutal attack by boyfriend caught on my car’s camera’

-

DASH-CAM footage was used to jail a thug who drove over his girlfriend in a brutal attack.

Ashleigh Earl, 25, has released the harrowing recording of the moment Jack Cann, 22, reversed into her.

The motion-sensor camera in her car was triggered when she stormed out of her house to confront Cann on her drive

As they argue, the tape shows Cann revving the engine of his car to run over her foot, before forcing her into the vehicle at the start of a two-hour ordeal.

The videos caught on the dash device and Ashleigh’s iPhone saw Cann sent down for almost five years. He admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm, making threats to kill, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified. He was jailed for a total of 56 months at Reading Crown Court.

Ashleigh from Bracknell, Berks, said: “Watching the footage brings back horrific memories but it proves what a monster Jack is.”

Ashleigh and Cann met through Facebook last October and dated for two months prior to his attack.

It began after Ashleigh noticed Cann COURTNEY GREATREX outside her house in his MG ZR at 2am. She said: “I had no idea why he was there as we had no plans to meet. I went and told him to turn his engine off as it was late but he ignored me. Twenty minutes later I went outside to confront him, filming on my iPhone. “Suddenly he got out of the car and started yelling, accusing me of being with other men.” The camera in Ashleigh’s Astra VXR caught Cann reversing over her foot, then dragging her into the front seat and speeding off. Ashleigh said: “Jack ignored my pleas to stop and crashed into another car. The car smashed into a fence and into a ditch.” Ashleigh tried to run, but Cann dragged her into some woods by her hair. She said: “He hit me with a log then plunged my head into a stream and held it under. I was convinced I was going to die.” Finally, she escaped and ran on her broken foot for over a mile until being found by police. Ashleigh urged other women to have dash-cams fitted for their safety. She added: “If I hadn’t, my attacker may never have been sent down.”
