Ade lands top role in boozer

-

ADRIAN Dunbar was lined up for his latest role while in the pub.

The Line Of Duty star was asked to join the cast of Broken when he went for a drink with pal Sean Bean.

Fans will see him as Father Peter Flaherty on the gritty new drama, penned by Jimmy McGovern.

Adrian said: “I met Sean for a drink… that’s how this story starts. I’ve known him for years and I hadn’t seen him for a while, so we caught up in Camden.

“He told me he was doing ‘this piece by Jimmy McGovern’, and of course the minute you hear ‘Jimmy McGovern’ as an actor your ears prick up.”

Adrian jumped at the chance to be part of the new series alongside Sean, who plays Father Michael.

Adrian added: “I was very interested when Sean told me there was a part in it, a character who Father Michael comes to every now and then as a sounding board and confessor, and someone he bounces ideas off or chats to as a friend.

“I thought ‘that sounds really good and if it’s Jimmy it’ll definitely be good’. You only need to take a look at the first two or three episodes to realise how fabulous it is and what a quality piece of work it is. So it was a no-brainer for me.”

Broken starts on Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One. TOM Daley has snubbed a big-money deal to dance on Saturday night TV. Producers at Strictly were keen to get the Olympic diver on board.

Tom said: “All the big reality shows look really fun, but while I’m competing as an athlete there’s no way I could take time out.

“Things like that get talked about all the time. But doing a reality show in between my training would be impossible.”

Strictly will be back in September.
