NOBILITY SCOOTER Bling ’n’ buy in royal shop

-

A STORE used by the Queen is selling the world’s most expensive mobility scooter for £45,000.

It comes complete with gold and crystal-encrusted bodywork.

The makers boast that each Easy Rider requires “300 hours of skilled craftsmanship” to create, with 24 carat gold plating and 80,000 Swarovski crystals applied by hand to every vehicle.

The posh scooters also have a hand-stitched leather seat.

Black, gold and pink models are on show at John Bell & Croyden’s store in Marylebone, London.

The store, which has a royal warrant to act as the Queen’s official pharmacist, also sells a four-wheeled “glider” shopper for £5,000, and a three-wheel “tri-walker” shopper for £8,000, inset.

The OAP shopping aids have also been finished with gold, Swarovski crystals and leather, with rich buyers able to customise them to their own requirements. John Bell & Croyden even sells crystal-encrusted walking canes at £1,500 each.

Ordinary mobility scooters cost around £475, with the poshest models retailing at about £3,000. But despite the quality of materials used and level of workmanship, a worker at the chemist told the Daily Star Sunday that the Queen had yet to buy any of the items.

He said: “They’re mad aren’t they? We haven’t sold any yet. I’m not sure I can see the Queen buying one anyway. They’re probably a bit too showy for her.”

John Bell & Croyden was founded in 1798 and gained its royal warrant in 1958. The awardwinning chemist also supplied products to the Queen Mother until her death in 2002. Like all warrant-holders, they do not disclose the products the Royal Family like to use, but other posh items on sale include a £22 Kent toothbrush made from “real bristle”, which also holds the coveted warrant.
