KAREN FURY AT WILL WALK-OUT
STRICTLY star Karen Clifton has had a dig at Will Young for ditching her last year.
The professional dancer was devastated when Will walked off the show after just three weeks.
The day before the singer quit, Karen, 35, travelled to Cornwall for a training session but Will, 38, failed to turn up.
In an exclusive chat, she told us: “Whenever you’re on the show you’re hoping you’ll get someone who wants to be there.
“Strictly is so loved and you want someone who is keen to learn and is ready for a new adventure.”
Speaking about Will’s walkout, she added: “It was a difficult time. This series I’m just hoping for a partner that’s fun and wants a good time and who will enjoy the journey – and be there.” Karen is yet to lift the Glitterball trophy after five years on the show but she said she does not mind being paired with a dud dancer when it returns next month.
She said: “I’m looking forward to this year. I’d love to do as well as my partner wants to do. You always want to make sure your partner goes as far as they can. That’s what is important.”
Strictly has thrashed The X Factor in the ratings in recent years.
And Karen reckons the dance contest will continue to be top dog because of its broad appeal.
She said: “It’s a show that’s loved by the public. They absolutely adore Strictly. It’s a feel-good kind of show. There’s no drama or crazy things around it.
“It brings the family together because kids love it too. It gives people a good feeling. You can’t go wrong with that.”
