Andreas at double for War boys to hit Mark

- By CHRIS DOUGLAS

NOTTINGHAM FOREST boss Mark Warburton urged his players to learn from their failure to kill off the game despite taking the points in a seven-goal thriller.

The former Bees boss was delighted with Forest’s first three-point haul against the Bees in seven attempts but said: “We have to be more ruthless and kill games like that off.”

Forest came from a goal down to cling on to the lead thanks to a stunning Andreas Bouchalakis brace and goals from Daryl Murphy and Kieran Dowell.

But Warburton was forced to watch on in frustration as his side repeatedly let the hosts back into it thanks to late strikes from Andreas Bjelland and Neal Maupay, which added to John Egan’s opener.

“At 3-1 we had a number of breakaways with Daryl Murphy and Barrie McKay but we didn’t finish them off,” he said. “At 5-1 it’s game over but we weren’t clinical enough and you can never ever bet against Brentford.

“Having said that it’s nice to come back and see some very good people at a very good club which is a very tough place to come – and leave with the points.”

Forest’s fans sang, “We’ve got our Forest back” throughout the second half and Warburton insisted his sights were firmly set on continuing the solid start to the season.

“It’s early days yet but we are building momentum,” he said.

“You have to keep moving forward because if you don’t you go backwards.”

Brentford boss Dean Smith called for patience as his early-season strugglers continue to seek their first point of the new campaign.

“It was a mad game,” he said. “We were in cruise control for the first 40 minutes and if we’d been more decisive with our finishing we’d have been going in comfortable at the break.

“As it was, we’ve given some soft goals away and they went into a 3-1 lead shortly after half-time and we started chasing the game too early, leaving gaps at the back.”
