X Factor star’s quit turnabout

-

JAMES Arthur has done a U-turn on his retirement plans, claiming he made his decision on a bad day.

The Say You Won’t Let Go singer went back on a tweet claiming he might give up on music once his latest album is out.

Arthur, who won The X Factor in 2012, said his struggle with fame and his mental health made him want to retire.

He said: “I was having a particularly bad day. It was a real thing I felt at the time.

“There are certain aspects of this that I don’t enjoy – it doesn’t feel good for my soul.

“Sometimes music is the after-thought because there is a lot of other stuff and I just like to focus on what I’m good at, which is the music.

“When I’m taken away from that I do feel like ‘why am I doing this’, other than for validation.”

He went on: “So I did have a moment like that…it was definitely an angry heat of the moment tweet that I did.” The singer blamed his anxiety on moving away from Middlesborough to pursue his career.

He said: “As soon as I won The X Factor I moved to London, which is five hours away from everybody I love and the people that make me the best version of myself.”
