CHRIS CALLS FOR FAN-TASTIC HELP

-

CHRIS CHESTER has called on Wakefield’s fans to help ease the pressure of today’s crunch clash with Hull FC. Victory will clinch Trinity a top-eight spot for the third successive year but defeat will leave their fate in the balance. A loss to Hull means Wakefield then go into next weekend’s final game of the regular season still needing a win to survive. Champions Leeds are one point behind and have arguably the easier final game against Salford, whereas Wakefield take on Huddersfield.

Chester said: “The guys have been feeling the pressure over the last few weeks and I’d like to get it done now.

“We fully understand the importance of this game so we need the crowd to be really vocal. It has been a tense time and I sense the crowd is on edge but we need them fully behind the boys as Hull will bring a fair few.”

Hull, who are fifth and three points ahead of Wakefield, are hit by a lengthy injury list.

But Chester claims that has worked against his team this week. He said: “We have struggled to do any kind of preview on them because there will probably be some youngsters playing.

“We have to make sure we start the game well and defensively stick to our principles. If we do that it gives us a fantastic chance of winning the game.” Wakefield v Hull FC
