LEFTY IN THE LURCH
PHIL “LEFTY” MICKELSON felt he had been floored by a right hook after struggling to tame the course which always bites him back.
Mickelson was cheered all the way around Carnoustie but, with his compatriots on fire, he could not reward the support with a sparkling round as he struggled with a 70 to finish one under. The American (left) said: “This course hasn’t been good to me over the years. I have not played well.
“These last two rounds are the first two I’ve shot under par here. I don’t feel like I’m playing bad but just it’s not coming easy.”
