FEARS OVER RELEASE OF CHOUDARY HATE MATE

Security on red alert

- ■ by WILL STONE sunday@dailystar.co.uk

A FORMER pupil of Anjem Choudary due to be released at the same time as the hate preacher poses a “serious threat” say security sources.

Mizanur Rahman, 35, was jailed with Choudary for cheerleading support for the Islamic State.

They will be released next month after serving half their five-year sentences.

Choudary, 51, recruited Rahman to banned British hate group al-Muhajiroun, which has been linked to international terrorism, anti-semitism and homophobia.

Now security services are warning that Rahman is more dangerous than his mentor.

He was groomed at 17 by Choudary before setting up secret online forums for al-Muhajiroun disciples.

A security source said: “It’s fair to say that Rahman is more computer literate than Choudary, younger and more energetic. That is a big worry.” The pair will be banned from meeting each other and al-Muhajiroun members under strict conditions imposed on their release.

Rahman also has close links to his childhood friend Siddhartha

Dhar, who fled to

Syria and replaced Mohammed Emwazi, also known as Jihadi John, as an Isis executioner.

Known as Jihadi Sid, Dhar is the highest profile British member of Isis. Security services fear Rahman will try to make contact with him.

The National Counter Terrorism Security Office’s former head Chris Phillips said: “It is very scary. What we know is that people around Rahman have gone and done terrible things. “Unless we change the laws we cannot do anything. We need to make control orders stronger. “The police are in a nearimpossible situation.” Rahman, inset, has previous convictions for inciting racial hatred and for soliciting the murder of non-Muslims at a protest outside the Danish Embassy against cartoons depicting Mohammed in 2006.

He was sentenced to four years in prison after he was convicted in 2007 for solicitation to murder troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He said: “We want to see them coming home in body bags.” His speeches posted online were also found to have inspired others to prepare terrorist acts.
