MICHELLE Keegan is hoping to get called up for another frontline mission.

The actress has played Army medic Georgie Lane in BBC drama Our Girl for two years. And Michelle is desperate for bosses to give the go-ahead to another series.

The 31-year-old said: “We don’t know yet if we will do another series. It’s not been confirmed. “I know there are talks, but I’ll have to wait and see.

“It would be great for it to come back. The writer is so talented, so I know he’d come up with some great storylines.”

The last series of Our Girl ended with Georgie and her comrades being chased by an armed gang.

In the final moments viewers saw them reaching a cliff-edge where they faced a tough choice – jump or risk being shot.

Michelle said: “The ending was a real talking point because the plot was literally left on a cliffhanger. But if it doesn’t come back then I think the storyline was left at a nice place.”

Our Girl has been a ratings hit for the BBC since it launched five years ago with Lacey Turner in the lead role.

A spokesman refused to say if it has been axed. And Michelle still wants to continue.

She said: “I’m still loving every minute of it. I feel so lucky to be part of it. It’s amazing to see how well Our Girl is doing and how big it has become.”

Earlier this month the public voted her best actress at the TV Choice Awards.

Michelle, born in Stockport, Cheshire, said: “Winning that award was such a moment.

“Everyone on

Our Girl worked so hard last year.

“We were away for eight months filming the series. So it isn’t just an award for me – it was also for the cast, the production team, the crew. Everyone worked so hard.”

Michelle had her big break playing feisty Tina McIntyre on Coronation Street.

When her character was killed off in 2014 she feared her acting career would end.

But since then she has become one of TV’s busiest stars, with roles in hit shows including Ordinary Lies and Plebs.

Last week she started filming the new comedy Brassic for Sky One.

The six-part series has been created by This Is England star Joe Gilgun and Shameless writer Danny Brocklehurst. Michelle said: “It feels incredible to be doing all the things that I’m doing.”
