DANNY: My life wasn’t going so well

PARTY’S OVER FOR EASTENDER DANNY

-

DANNY Dyer says he has quit his party lifestyle to hang on to his job on EastEnders.

He was forced to take time off from the soap last year because he was going off the rails. Show sources claimed he angered bosses with his wild behaviour and mood swings. But 18 months on he’s determined to stay on track. He told the Daily Star Sunday: “A few years ago it wasn’t going so well. If you break it all down, you’ve got to work hard.

“And you’ve got to take your job seriously and all that. You’ve got to keep your eye on the ball. Sometimes it’s easy to take your eye off it.”

Now he is working long hours to prove he is back to his best. And bosses have put him back at the heart of the action with his character Mick Carter in an attempted murder plot. Danny was on his best behaviour at the TV Choice Awards last Monday.

While other stars enjoyed the free booze, he skipped the afterparty to grab an early night.

Danny said: “It’s a nutty night to have an awards – a Monday. I went home because I had the school run in the morning.

“I let my daughter Dani do the partying for me these days.”

But he won best soap actor, which was special for him because it is voted for by viewers.

He said: “It’s nice to get an award. It’s been a while for me. I’ve been watching other actors winning, which was disappointing.

“So to now win one is just lovely. And the fact that it’s voted for by the public is a nice bonus.”

Danny reckons he secured extra votes because Dani was so popular on Love Island this summer.

He added: “I do think my little Dani gave me a boost and that makes me even more proud.”

Danny, who joined the soap in 2013, is keen to stay in Walford.

He said: “I’m happy. People are loving Mick Carter. And for as long as people are loving him, I’ll keep playing him.”
